I recently found out my child has been bullied at school for months. He finally broke down and told me after I saw him flinch when I reached to hug him one night. When I pressed, he tearfully admitted that a group of classmates calls him names, trips him in the hallway, steals his lunch, and even shoved his head into a locker once. My heart broke. I immediately contacted the school. But after two meetings with the counselor and the principal, all I got were vague reassurances that 'conflicts happen' and 'we’re handling it.' At home, nothing changed. My son dreads going to school, and now I’m hearing whispers from another parent that her daughter was told not to talk about what happened, because 'it would make the school look bad.' I've documented everything, including emails and notes my son begged me not to show anyone. The school might be protecting its reputation instead of my child. I’m torn. If I go to the school board, or post online, I could force action—but it could make my son a target, or put a permanent mark on his life and future. If I stay silent, my son keeps suffering.
