Should I Speak Up About My Child’s Exhausted Teacher?

Category: education • Theme: Parent Advocacy vs Respecting Teacher's Privacy

I’ve noticed my child’s teacher is different this year. She started off bright and enthusiastic, but lately, she looks tired and distracted. My son tells me she forgets their assignments, seems irritable, and barely gives feedback. He’s usually excited about school, but now he dreads going and says the class feels chaotic. I’m worried—this isn’t just affecting him, but the whole class. I know teachers have a tough job, and I respect all she does, but something is off and it’s affecting the kids’ learning. Part of me wants to approach the principal, but I fear it could make things worse for her, especially if she’s struggling personally. Another option is to reach out directly to the teacher, but I don’t want to intrude or embarrass her. Or maybe I should just let things settle, since schools can be stressful and maybe this is temporary. I feel torn—I want the best for my child, but I also want to support the teacher, not add to her stress or put her job in jeopardy. What would YOU do?
