I work for a mid-sized manufacturing plant, and for the past six years, this place has put a roof over my head and benefits in my pocket. Last week, while staying late to finish some paperwork, I saw something I wish I hadn’t: one of our night shift supervisors and a couple of other workers funneling waste into an unmarked truck instead of sending it for proper disposal. I realized they were dumping it to save costs, which is not only against company policy but also illegal. I haven’t said a word to anyone—my job is our family’s main income, and we’re barely getting by. I’m scared that if I report this, I’ll be fired or blacklisted—people in my town talk, and jobs are scarce here. My coworker hinted a few weeks ago that "things get swept under the rug after dark," but when I pressed, she just shrugged and changed the subject.
