I work in a small medical office as a receptionist, and one afternoon while digitizing paperwork, I accidentally came across a file for my longtime friend. Just from the name, I recognized it instantly, thinking it was harmless curiosity. What I read shocked me to my core—he’s been diagnosed with an aggressive, likely terminal illness. The details were clear, and it looked recent. The thing is, my friend has never mentioned this, and just last weekend, we were joking and making future plans like nothing was happening. He seems totally unaware, talking about his long-term goals and even booking a big family trip for next year. I’m not supposed to even know about this.
