I found the packet at the bottom of a box marked "miscellaneous," under a tangle of phone chargers and a broken tape measure. Old prints, slightly curled, glossy edges worn soft. He is young in them. There was no note, just our address written in neat blue ink on the envelope and a postmark from a state we’ve never visited. No return address. The cardboard smelled faintly like oranges. Two years and four months of being introduced to her own husband every morning, and still, she keeps our wedding photo by the bed. In the hospital room that became a regular room that became home that became familiar enough. Every morning, the nurse says my name first.
