I never thought I would be in this position. Last weekend, I stopped by my brother’s workplace to drop off a jacket he’d left at my place. His shift had just ended, but as I walked past the office, I saw him stuffing what looked like envelopes of cash from the safe into his backpack. He didn’t see me—I froze, panicked, and left without saying anything. Since then, I’ve barely slept. My brother has always been there for me, especially after our parents passed away, but what he did is a serious crime. No one else knows I was there. The next day, his employer called him in—he told me they think there’s been an internal theft investigation, but so far nobody suspects him. If I stay quiet, my brother could keep getting away with this, or the stress could spiral and destroy his life in another way. But if I turn him in, I could ruin his future, and he might never forgive me—I’d be betraying my family, maybe losing the only close relative I have left. I’m afraid that if I confront him directly, he might panic, or even double down to cover his tracks. I feel trapped between doing what’s right by the law and protecting my own flesh and blood. The guilt is eating me alive. What would YOU do?
