I’ve always been close to my younger brother—we grew up debating about everything from superhero movies to politics. But over the last year, I started noticing his social media posts getting…stranger. It started with memes about politics, then escalated to him sharing ‘secret’ vaccine dangers and wild voting fraud videos. He’s racking up followers, and some of his posts are getting shared by people I know in our community. Last week, his rant about a protest being ‘staged’ went viral, and now I’m getting texts from friends asking what’s going on with my family. I feel sick every time I see one of his posts—especially knowing our dad is immunocompromised, and these lies could put people at risk. But I also remember him as the hilarious kid who made everyone laugh at dinner, and I worry confronting him will just push him deeper and strain our entire family. My parents are begging me to ‘just ignore him’ so we don’t have another blow-up at Thanksgiving. But the more I ignore it, the more his reach grows. I’ve tried hinting he’s going too far, but he either laughs it off or accuses me of being ‘brainwashed.’ I can’t tell if speaking up would help, or only make things worse—maybe for my relationship, maybe for the world. What would YOU do?
