My Dad’s Viral Post Is Spreading Harm—Do I Intervene?

Category: politics • Theme: Family Bonds vs Social Responsibility

I love my dad, and I know he means well, but lately his social media posts have taken a turn. Last week, he shared a long, emotional video about a new health policy, filled with scary warnings and what I know is misinformation. The post exploded—hundreds of shares, people in his small town echoing the same false claims. I tried talking to him in private, but he just got frustrated and said I was being 'naive' and 'brainwashed.' My cousins joined the comments, egging him on. A friend of mine—whose mom actually benefits from the policy—called me crying, worried about the backlash. I’m torn. Publicly calling him out could hurt my relationship with him forever, and possibly even split my family. But just ignoring it feels like cowardice, especially seeing the real world fear his post is causing in our community. I keep wondering: do I stay loyal to my family, or do I do my part to stop dangerous lies, even if it makes me the black sheep? What would YOU do?
