I never thought I’d be in this position: my dad has always been loving and, honestly, pretty rational, if a bit stubborn. But lately, he's been spending hours online, and last week I saw him post a video spouting wild conspiracy theories about a recent election. The post took off, raking in arguments and shares, and I even saw a few people I know from our town jumping in just to agree with him. The thing is, the claims are completely untrue—dangerous, actually, with people talking about refusing to vote or even threatening protest violence in the comments. When I called him, he brushed me off, saying he’s 'just asking questions' and the mainstream media ignores people like him. My mom is upset but feels powerless; the rest of the family is divided. Some cousins chimed in to support him, while my siblings are urging me to let it go for the sake of peace. But I worry—what if his post leads to someone getting hurt, or causes real local unrest? At the same time, I don’t want to destroy my relationship with him or publicly embarrass him, and honestly, I feel sick at the thought of the whole family turning on me. If I challenge him directly, it could tear us apart. But if I stay silent, am I letting his words do real harm? Or is there another way that might get through to him without a giant blow-up? I love my dad, but I can’t ignore what’s happening. What would YOU do?
