I never imagined I’d end up here. I’ve campaigned, donated, and argued endlessly for my favorite politician—someone I believed truly stood for ordinary people. Just last week, I volunteered again because I admired how they always promised transparency and integrity. Then, by complete accident, I stumbled across an email thread on a friend’s borrowed laptop (my friend works in the campaign office, and had left an account open). The emails are clear: there were backdoor deals made for campaign donations, and, worse, the politician personally approved using public resources to reward big donors. My stomach dropped. This isn’t a rumor. It’s clear, direct proof. I feel totally betrayed. But I also keep thinking: if these emails go public, it could completely destroy not just this politician, but our party’s entire chance in the upcoming election.
