Do I Admit My Feelings for My Friend’s Fiancé?

Category: relationships • Theme: Honesty vs Loyalty

I feel sick even typing this, but I’ve been hiding a secret for months. My best friend is getting married in a few weeks, and I’m supposed to be her maid of honor. The thing is, I’ve developed feelings for her fiancé. It started innocently—late-night group chats, helping with wedding prep, laughing at the same jokes. But somewhere along the way, I started looking forward to seeing him more than to seeing her. He’s been nothing but respectful and I have never crossed a line, but sometimes I swear there is an unspoken tension. I have no intention of hurting my friend, but hiding this makes me feel like a terrible person. I’ve started pulling away, making excuses not to hang out, and she’s noticed. She keeps asking if I’m okay and confides her pre-wedding jitters in me. The guilt is eating me alive, and I worry she senses something is off. I feel like such a fraud standing by her side, knowing how I feel. I keep thinking about whether I should confess—if not to her, maybe just to him privately, to clear the air and move on. Or should I bury these feelings and hope they fade, for the sake of our friendship and their happiness? Or perhaps I should remove myself completely for a while, even if it hurts us all. I don’t know what the right thing is, or even what I want. I just know I can’t keep going like this. What would YOU do?
