Do I Call Out My Friends for Secretly Replacing Me?

Category: relationships • Theme: Standing Up for Myself vs Preserving the Peace

I’ve known most of my friend group since high school. For years, we celebrated birthdays together, went on spontaneous trips, and were always in each other’s lives. Lately, though, I started noticing subtle changes—group photos from outings I wasn’t invited to, inside jokes I didn’t understand, conversation threads that suddenly ended when I entered the chat. It hurt, but I kept telling myself I was imagining it. Then, last weekend, I accidentally saw a message pop up on one of their phones: they literally have a separate group without me, planning events while I’m purposely excluded. It broke my heart. I don’t know what I did wrong, and I feel embarrassed and angry. Now, I’m torn. Part of me wants to confront them and demand to know why; part of me believes that’ll only make things worse. Another part just wants to quietly distance myself, but I’m scared I’ll lose the only friends I have. I keep doubting myself—should I fight for answers, try to fix things, or just walk away and let it die? What would YOU do?
