I never thought I’d end up in this kind of situation. My best friend and I have been inseparable since we were kids—we’ve been through just about everything together. A couple months ago, he introduced me to his new girlfriend. At first, I just saw her as the person making him happy. But the more we hung out, the more I felt this strong connection with her. We talk about music for hours, laugh at the same things, and I catch her glancing at me when no one’s looking. Honestly, I haven’t felt this kind of spark in years, not even in my last relationship. I feel terrible even admitting this to myself. My friend is happy, and he trusts me completely. But lately, being around the two of them is almost unbearable. Part of me feels like I’m betraying him by even having these feelings. Another part of me wonders if she feels the same way—sometimes I see something in her eyes that I can’t ignore. I haven’t acted on anything, but it’s getting harder to hide how I feel. I’m torn between telling my friend the truth, keeping my feelings to myself and distancing myself, or trying to just carry on as if nothing’s wrong. Either way, I risk our friendship, and maybe even her happiness. But the thought of burying these feelings forever eats at me. I honestly don’t know what’s right. What would YOU do?
