I'm Falling for My Best Friend's Girlfriend—What Now?

Category: relationships • Theme: Loyalty to Friendship vs Personal Honesty

I never expected to find myself in this situation, but here I am, agonizing over every interaction I have with my best friend and his girlfriend. The three of us have always gotten along, but over the past months, I’ve started feeling a pull toward her that I can’t seem to shake. She’s funny, passionate about the same weird hobbies I am, and honestly, there are moments where I swear she’s looking at me the way I look at her. I feel awful—my best friend is an amazing guy, and I don’t want to hurt him. I keep telling myself I’m just imagining these feelings, but the more we all hang out, the harder it gets to deny. Recently, I caught myself hoping he’d be late so I could talk to her alone. That scared me. I don’t want to betray him or disrupt their relationship, but it’s also getting harder to pretend like nothing’s happening inside my head. Part of me wants to distance myself from both of them, but then I risk losing the only real friendships I’ve had in years. Am I supposed to hold onto these feelings forever, or do I risk everything and tell someone how I actually feel? It feels selfish either way. I keep replaying every conversation, searching for signs that she might feel the same. Sometimes I hate myself for even thinking this way. But staying quiet isn’t making it go away, and I’m terrified of how much worse this could get. What would YOU do?
