My Friend Group Left Me Out—Should I Call Them Out?

Category: relationships • Theme: Self-Respect vs Fear of Loneliness

I recently discovered that my friend group has been making plans together—going out, taking short trips, even having a group chat—without including me. I only found out because someone accidentally sent a text meant for the 'other' chat to me. At first, I thought maybe it was an oversight, but when I looked back, I realized it’s been going on for months. They’d always say they were busy when I suggested hanging out or gave vague excuses. I feel hurt and embarrassed. These people got me through tough times and shared some of my happiest moments. Part of me wants to confront them, demand to know why they shut me out. But I’m scared that I won’t like the answer, or that by speaking up, I’ll lose even the little connection I have left with them. Another part of me thinks I should just quietly step away and focus on other relationships, but it’s so hard to let go. And then there’s the idea of acting like everything is fine, hoping I’ll eventually be included again, because I genuinely miss the closeness we used to have. I feel lost, betrayed, and unsure what to do. What would YOU do?
