I only found out by accident. My phone pinged while I was out with my friend, and I glanced at her screen, only to see a group chat name I didn’t recognize—but I did recognize every name in it except mine. At first, I told myself it was probably nothing, maybe an event I wasn’t involved in. But over the next week, I kept noticing weird things: I’d hear about movie nights and funny stories I was never invited to. It sounded like all my close friends were getting together regularly, just without me. I tried brushing it off, but last night, I saw a post that could only have come from that chat, and now I know for sure: they’ve been excluding me deliberately. I keep replaying everything in my head, wondering if I did something wrong. Part of me wants to confront someone directly and ask why they’ve cut me out, but I’m terrified I’ll come off as needy or dramatic. Another part thinks I should just quietly move on, try to find new friends, or at least not give them the satisfaction of knowing how much it hurts. There’s also a part of me that wants to stick around and pretend nothing’s wrong, in case this is just a passing phase and it all goes back to normal. I feel embarrassed, angry, and deeply hurt, but also afraid of being completely alone if I push too hard. Right now, I don’t know what would hurt less—risking my dignity by asking for answers, or quietly accepting that the people I thought cared about me don’t, not really. What would YOU do?
