I always thought my friend group was tight—we’d meet up every couple of weeks, share everything, laugh too loudly in public. But for the past few months, I noticed I was being left out. At first, I thought it was just bad timing, but then photos would pop up of group outings I’d never heard about. The final blow came when I accidentally saw a notification pop up on a friend’s phone for a new group chat—one that didn’t include me. It genuinely hurt. I replayed every recent conversation in my mind, wondering what I’d done to be pushed away. My self-esteem has taken a hit, and it haunts me every day—I keep wondering if there’s something wrong with me. I haven’t confronted anyone yet; I just keep pretending I’m busy when we do talk, afraid of seeming desperate or making things worse. But curiosity gnaws at me. Part of me wants to just ask someone outright—why am I being excluded? The idea terrifies me, though. What if the truth is painful, or, worse, that they just don’t like me anymore? Should I risk my own feelings for answers? Or is it healthier to create some distance and focus on building new friendships? I miss having a group, but I fear making things awkward forever. What would YOU do?
