I recently found out that my friend group—which I’ve considered my closest people for years—have been hanging out and making plans without me. It wasn’t just a one-off, either. I saw posts, group pictures, and even joking comments about "the core group," and my name was never there. At first, I convinced myself I must have just missed an invite by accident, but after a while, it became obvious. The fact is: they’ve been deliberately excluding me. I’m crushed, angry, but mostly embarrassed. I keep questioning what I did wrong. I haven’t mentioned anything yet, partly because I don’t want to admit how much it hurts, and partly because I’m scared that if I speak up, they’ll just confirm I don’t really belong. At the same time, staying silent and pretending everything is normal is starting to eat away at my confidence and self-worth. I could confront them directly, which might give me answers but could also burn bridges. I could quietly drift away, but then I’d lose people who did matter to me, even if things aren’t the same now. Or maybe there’s a way to address it with just one person I trust in the group, to get some perspective. I’m torn between protecting myself and desperately not wanting to be alone. What would YOU do?
