I work as a lead engineer for a mid-sized software company. Recently, my team finished developing an AI-driven analysis tool for clients. On paper, it’s a breakthrough—fast, efficient, and capable of parsing huge datasets in seconds. But in testing, I noticed the tool sometimes made significant errors with sensitive information. Results that should be confidential wound up misclassified or, in some cases, potentially shared to unintended accounts. I flagged these issues, but management is under pressure to launch ASAP and keeps telling me the software is "good enough for beta." Yesterday, my boss pulled me aside and made it clear my performance review (and potential promotion) will reflect on "being a team player." I haven't been able to sleep well.
