Should I Expose My Coworker for Stealing My Work?

Category: work • Theme: Professional Integrity vs Workplace Harmony

I work in a pretty competitive marketing team, and last week, my coworker presented a project pitch I’d spent weeks on—secretly taking most of my research and slides. I was shocked, but what hurt more was seeing our manager praise him for his 'fresh ideas.' I have proof: emails with early drafts, time-stamped notes, and even a cloud history showing the files I created. No one else knows what really happened. I’ve always tried to be a team player, and before this, I actually thought we could be friends. Now, every day is awkward. Part of me wants to show the evidence to our manager, but I’m scared of being seen as dramatic or difficult. He’s popular, and our boss cares a lot about team morale. If I confront him quietly, maybe he’ll admit it—but what if he denies it, or turns others against me? If I stay quiet, I’m worried I’ll never get the recognition I deserve, but I also fear stirring up conflict and damaging my reputation in a tight-knit office. I haven’t told anyone yet; I replay what happened over and over, feeling resentful and anxious. I don’t know which matters most: standing up for myself or keeping the peace. What would YOU do?
